Would you and a group of friends love to explore acrylic paints in an unthreatening environment, and to learn new ways of painting? Then you’ve come to the right place!
These one-off sessions will be held on Saturday afternoons, 2-4pm. The sessions are very relaxed but will be guided, and all paints, canvasses etc will be provided. Do feel free to bring your own materials if you prefer – but you’re more than welcome to use mine. We’ll spend the first hour practicing techniques, then the second hour creating paintings!
No two paintings will be the same – each participant will do the sorts of pictures that they would like to produce, with help and guidance from me along the way. We will experiment and learn various styles, trying out different shapes and colours together and blending colours in different ways, so that each participant will increasingly develop something of their own style. We will follow our imaginations, dream, and learn to go wherever the paint and brush may lead; we will explore and express themes that are important to us; and most of all we will have a good time.
Themes to choose from:
5 Fantastic Flat Brush techniques
Reflections and Water techniques (e.g. lake, beach…)
Glass techniques (e.g. wine/champagne, vase/bowl…)
Textured effects with Mixed Media & varied brush techniques
Conveying Light and Dark; portraying Sunlight
Human shapes, the body and movement
Animal and plant shapes (as silhouettes on colourful sunset backgrounds)
Blending colours and shades for layers and perspective (e.g. rolling hills…)
Creating ‘feelings’ with Colour (e.g. summer/winter…)
Abstract and following the ‘feel’ of the painting
These sessions are ideal for a group of 4-6 people, though we can accommodate up to 12. The cost is £20 per person, or £10 for anyone receiving Universal Credit.
